What should you do before taking your mobile phone for repair?

We recommend that you do not attempt to repair the phone yourself. Some of the fixes may seem easy, but any error can cause your phone to stop working. In some cases, you may have opened an electronic device to see what was inside. If you have an inquisitive mind and a bit of skill, it is true that you can fix some bugs by watching an online tutorial, but we have to tell you that most of them have intricacies that you will have to deal with and experience and only the professionals know how to solve them. For this reason, we advise you that before taking your smartphone to a mobile repair technical service leave it as is. Can you try to play it? Yeah. But if you intend to remove the cover, we recommend that you do not do so because you may lose the warranty.

Check the warranty before you take your phone for repair

We wish you from Fixify service center that you do not have to turn to us, because this means that your mobile phone is in perfect condition, but sometimes there is no other choice. If this is the case, check if the phone is under warranty or not before taking your phone for repair . It is an important step, because if the phone is under warranty, it is recommended that you take it to the store where you bought it. They’ll take care of it, and hopefully, you won’t have to pay to fix it. The minimum warranty period for an electronic product is two years.

In addition to making sure if your mobile phone is still under warranty, you should check what type of damage is covered by the warranty.

Remove the SIM card

It may seem obvious, but it’s worth saying. It’s a good idea to have a SIM ejection tool handy for these types of situations. While your phone is in service, you can use the SIM in any other device. A few years ago, you could only use a SIM card on cell phones from the same phone company, but today you can use it on any device.

If you have a PIN, pattern lock, or fingerprint authentication, you will have to disable it. This will allow technicians to easily check your phone’s performance without having to bother you when a pin or pattern appears.

If you are an Android user and want to unlock it, just go to Settings -> Security & Lock screen -> Lock screen and then remove the PIN, pattern lock, or any other barrier you have added.

For iPhone users: Go to Settings -> Touch ID & Code . On devices without Touch ID, go to Settings -> Passcode . If you have an iPhone X , go to Settings -> Face ID & Code.

Backup and restore

If you have confidential data on your device, you can reset it before handing over the phone to technical service. Make sure to make a full backup of your device, whether it is Android or iOS before moving forward. It is also advisable to carry a note of IMEI details and phone serial number with you . This number allows us to remotely locate or block a mobile phone or even process a warranty through the brand’s official technical service . It’s not an essential thing to do before taking your mobile phone for repair, but write it down for what might happen.

For iPhone users, go to Settings -> General -> About . Android users can go to Settings -> About phone to take note of the serial number and IMEI details.
